Can design facilitate the transformations necessary for humans and non-humans to collectively address the environmental challenges crucial to the survival of both?
The brand new IED Master of Arts, delivered in Milano, explores transdisciplinary design as an ecological practice that fosters coexistence between humans and non-humans. Addressing climate change and biodiversity loss, the program promotes non-anthropocentric approaches through collaboration with experts in ecology, sociology, and environmental humanities. Students engage in real-world projects — from multispecies habitats to biodiversity-enhancing products — gaining skills to design for entire ecosystems. Led by prominent practitioners and researchers, the course prepares graduates for careers in research, academia, and ecological design. Open to diverse professionals, it cultivates new roles like Ecosystem Service Designer, advancing ethical, systemic solutions for a shared and sustainable planetary future.
